The Cultural Heritage Technologies Research unit is coordinated by dr Arianna Traviglia. The assignment stems from the Foundation’s need to carry out research and experimental activities in the framework of the project HE-LIX (Heritage Empowerment by Leveraging Innovation and eXchange) developed in partnership with several Italian institutions, with the aim of developing innovative diagnostic tools: the candidate will collaborate with the IIT researchers from the CCHT, CABHC and CLN2S centers . Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be: Collaboration for in situ microbiological analyses on frescoes at the archeological parck of Pompeii (in synergy with CABHC and CLN2S); Collaboration for the isolation on Petri-plates of micro-species (in synergy with CABHC); Collaboration in the development and testing of a machine learning method for HSI and THz data processing (e.g. clustering of microbial species based on acquired data); Collaboration in data processing and interpretation of hyperspectral images acquired during previous diagnostic campaign in Pompeii (in synergy with CLN2S). The position might require regular travel to partners’ research facilities, depending on needs. Master’s degree in Conservation science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field; Experience in handling and manipulating archaeological/cultural heritage samples; Experience in designing and developing antimicrobial products for Cultural Heritage applications; Experience in investigating nanostructured materials for Cultural Heritage applications; Experience in HSI and/or THz data acquisition and/or data processing and interpretation. Ability to work in a challenging and international environment Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
