About the Job We are seeking to appoint a part-time (0.6 FTE; 3 days per week) Lecturer in Bioscience (Foundation Year) to join our dynamic team in the Department of Bioscience on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of teaching on our Foundation Year (Level 3) modules in bioscience, primarily across chemistry, biology, foundation mathematics, communication, professional and study skills. The role will also include the supervision of student research projects within the biosciences. Applicants should hold a good honours degree and a Master’s degree in Biological or Chemical Sciences, or a closely related bioscience discipline. Experience of teaching and/or supervising students in the further or higher education sector is essential, alongside a strong commitment to enhancing the student experience. A PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant bioscience discipline is desirable but not essential. This role would be particularly suitable for candidates currently working in further education in the UK in biosciences, applied sciences or related disciples who are seeking to transition into the higher education sector, gain experience of teaching in a university environment, or undertake a secondment to support their academic career development. It may also appeal to individuals seeking a part-time academic role alongside other professional or personal commitments.
