Department presentation The INUIT (Immersive Natural User Interaction) team of the Computer Science Department conducts research on interaction in Mixed Reality by designing Virtual and Augmented Reality system by proposing models and metaphors evaluated by user experiments. Applications domains include but are not limited to: Industry of the Future, Health, Defense and Cultural Heritage. Project description The main objective of the EMPOWR project is to introduce a multi-layered augmentation ecosystem that will transform industrial workspaces into adaptive, intelligent environments where workers are not just operators, but enhanced decision-makers. This ecosystem will promote human-machine collaboration through two core technologies: an adaptive AR workbench accompanied by a Cognitive AI Companion, the Adaptive Learning Manufacturing Assistant (ALMA), an LLM-based AI system that will have the role of the manufacturing workspace intelligence. The INUIT team is the leader for the design and development of the AR workbench. The AR workbench will implement an AR design space designed to support several forms of information display via augmentations. Actual display will be based on elements provided by ALMA and by physiological signals monitored on the workers. The AR workbench will be deployed on two industry use cases and user studies will be performed for validation.
