Sintesi in italiano (traduzione automatica)

A leading research institute in Prague, Czechia, named after Nobel laureate in Chemistry, J. Heyrovský, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the field of quantum chemistry . Type of contract: Temporary (1 year with possible extension up to 2 years) Job status: Full-time Starting date: 1.1.2027 Link to the group's website: http://www.libor.veisovi.com Job description The accurate theoretical description of the electronic structure of strongly correlated systems remains one of the major challenges in computational quantum chemistry and condensed-matter physics. Addressing this challenge is essential for developing predictive computational methods that can guide the efficient design of new functional materials, molecular systems, and catalysts. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of novel classical and quantum algorithms for electronic-structure calculations of molecules with strongly correlated electrons, with a particular emphasis on tensor-network methods. The research will focus on advancing computational approaches capable of treating electronic structures that are difficult to describe accurately using conventional quantum-chemical methods. The position offers an opportunity to work at the interface of theoretical and computational chemistry, quantum many-body theory, tensor networks, and quantum computing. The candidate will be encouraged to contribute actively to the formulation of new methodological ideas and to collaborate with other researchers working on electronic-structure theory and quantum algorithms. Required Qualifications - a PhD in chemistry, physics, or a related field - a solid understanding of electronic-structure theory and computational methods - demonstrated experience in the development and/or implementation of computational methods - strong computational and problem-solving skills - strong English communication skills, both spoken and written - publication track record. Preferred skills - experience with scientific programming, particularly in C++ and/or Python - experience with, or knowledge of, tensor-network methods - experience with the IBM Qiskit framework or comparable quantum-computing software - ability to work efficiently both as part of a team and independently. Desired skills - hands-on experience with quantum-computing hardware or simulators is an advantage - high-performance computing (HPC), parallel programming, or optimization of scientific software Benefits - friendly and motivating working environment - five weeks paid leave of absence (holidays) per year, an additional 5 days time off for personal reasons, and three days of paid sick leave on top of statutory insurance. - flexible working hours, the possibility of part-time work or hybrid work - the proximity of childcare groups on the CAS campus - sports equipment rental, free parking, and access to libraries - Czech and English language courses - possibility of further education and career development by participating in courses organized by our institute.
