Descrizione
ReGAIN Project : Individualized Knee Rehabilitation Based on Neuromuscular Deficits Programme Interreg VI France-Suisse (Synergie 21384) Knee joint injuries, particularly anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, are common in sports practice, especially in our region due to activities specific to mountainous environments (alpine skiing, hiking, trail running). ACL reconstruction surgery leads to neuromuscular impairments associated with prolonged disability (6 to 12 months), reduced return to sport, work absenteeism (up to 3 months), and a high risk of reinjury (up to 30%). Given the substantial socio-economic and health burden of this injury (total cost per ACL rupture estimated between €15,000 and €30,000), improving its management represents a major challenge. Currently, return to activity and rehabilitation are largely guided by time-based criteria, resulting in a standardized approach for all patients. When objective assessments are conducted, i) they typically focus on a single muscle quality (maximal strength, measured at low velocity, in the absence of fatigue, and achieved after several seconds of contraction), thus providing only a partial view of patient deficits, and ii) they are not used to guide rehabilitation content (i.e., there is no individualization). Assessing other independent muscle capacities (explosiveness, force at different velocities, endurance) could provide a more comprehensive understanding of patient deficits and better inform individualized rehabilitation programs, thereby promoting a safer return to activity. The ReGAIN project brings together four French (Université Savoie Mont Blanc and the company Mtraining) and Swiss (La Tour Hospital and the Geneva School of Health Sciences) partners. Its aim is to improve the understanding and assessment of neuromuscular function impairments following ACL surgery, in order to better target, guide, and individualize patient care throughout rehabilitation. The ultimate goal is to reduce time off work, limit reinjury rates, and decrease costs for both patients and society. This will be achieved through improved characterization of neuromuscular impairments, the development and implementation of practical assessment tools suitable for routine use, the identification of exercise modalities targeting altered neuromuscular capacities, and the dissemination of knowledge to healthcare professionals. The recruited postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for: Coordinating experimental protocols, including participant recruitment, data acquisition through laboratory and field testing, data analysis and interpretation, with the assistance of Master’s students. promoting and disseminating project results through participation in progress meetings, oral presentations at national and international conferences, and the writing of scientific articles for peer-reviewed journals; monitoring the project, preparing and organizing steering committee meetings and seminars in collaboration with project partners and other collaborators; Annuncio in inglese.
