RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position Assistant (F/M) in the Department of Biomechatronics at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering on the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St. Job description: 1) persons, who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (consol. text, Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339) may enter the competition for the position of Assistant (F/M); 2) estimated work commencement date: 1 October 2026; 3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Biomechatronics, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering; full-time employment contract; 4) anticipated period of employment: from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027 (with the possibility of extension). Requirements: 1) a Master's degree or Master of Engineering degree in biomedical engineering; the preferred specialisation is Biomechatronics and Medical Equipment or a related field, 2) participation in relevant conferences or symposia, 3) proficiency in spoken and written Polish and English sufficient to teach classes in both languages. Additional requirements: 1) a scientific publication record in biomedical engineering, particularly in biomechanics, evidenced by: - at least several publications in JCR-listed journals, - at least several presentations at national scientific conferences (international conferences preferred), 2) research cooperation with medical-sector institutions, documented, for example, by co-authored publications, 3) experience in conducting research on human motion analysis, with particular emphasis on newborns, infants and children; evidence in the form of scientific publications or presentations at national and international conferences is preferred, 4) experience in leading or co-leading research, teaching or development projects in biomedical engineering, 5) experience in organising science outreach events, 6) knowledge of systems and equipment used in human motion analysis, e.g. Noraxon Ultium Motion, Noraxon Ultium EMG, BTS Smart, XSENS, Zebris FDM-T, Tobii Pro Glasses, etc., 7) ability to design numerical algorithms and develop MATLAB programs for processing, visualising and interpreting data from biomechanical measurement systems, 8) knowledge of Statistica and/or JASSP software and the ability to perform statistical analyses of measurement data. Required documents: 1) application for employment / cover letter; 2) curriculum vitae (CV); 3) scans of diplomas (for a foreign diploma, confirmation that it has been recognised as equivalent in accordance with Article 327 of the Law on Higher Education and Science); 4) evidence of participation in relevant conferences or symposia; 5) information on scientific, teaching and organisational achievements; 6) a statement outlining the intended direction of future activities; 7) a declaration of active command of spoken and written English; 8) a declaration of spoken and written Polish proficiency (applicable to candidates whose native language is not Polish); 9) a declaration that the Silesian University of Technology will be the candidate's primary place of employment; 10) an opinion from the academic supervisor or Master's thesis supervisor concerning the candidate's suitability for work as a research and teaching employee; 11) other documents confirming fulfilment of the additional assessment criteria.
