TalTech Department of Law invites applications to fill in a tenured professor position in the field of European Legal Policy and Technology Law. The purpose of the position is to increase the capacity of the Department of Law as a research and educational center for technology law. Performing a coordinated legal policy analysis at the European Union level in the field of technology, to support both the developments of the European Union and the Estonian state and the economic environment, as well as the university's scientific contribution in a legally adequate and risk-free context. In addition, ensuring the role of an opinion leader in European legal developments and strategies for the university and performing legal modeling in the field of technology law. Main tasks: research and development in one's field and its organization, successful research and development, project application and management; developing cooperation with other sectoral research and development institutions and the public and private sectors, including international cooperation; teaching, research and development activities in the field in a balanced volume corresponding to the organization of the Regulation on Academic Career Management; supervision of postdoctoral researchers, doctoral students and master's students; taking doctoral students to the defense in nominal time; publication of the results of research and development activities, including in Scopus and WoS scientific journals with a significant impact factor, presentations at international conferences; work as an expert in the field; conducting academic teaching and educational development activities at a modern methodological and educational technological level at all levels of higher education in English in the field of European Union law, legal policy and technology law; the expected directions of research and development are the analysis of the application of technologies in the legal system when making decisions involving legal rights and obligations (profiling decisions, the use of artificial intelligence and big data, e.g. by investigative bodies or courts), the analysis of coordinated legal policy at the European Union level with a focus on the application of technologies. Additional tasks : participation in the work of national and international professional decision-making bodies and commissions; participation in editorial boards of scientific journals, scientific or organizational committees of conferences, reviewing scientific articles; participation in the development of study programs, including the work of program councils; presentation of research results to companies and society; popularization of one's specialty and scientific field; organization of professional continuing education; strengthening the professional international research cooperation network; profiling of the Department of Law's Scopus magazine as a leading scientific journal in the field. The workload for the position is 1.0 (full-time) and the position is expected to be filled on 01.01.2027 . The salary range is 3,200-4,500 euros per month (gross), with potential for future growth.
