Sintesi in italiano (traduzione automatica)

Researcher within applied mathematics and computationalscience for geological porous materials At the Department of Mathematics , in the Porous Media Research Group , there is a vacancy for a permanent Researcher 1109 position in applied mathematics and computational science. For the period 2027-2031, the position is primarily funded by the Norwegian Research Council funded centers “Center for Sustainable Subsurface Resources” ( CSSR ), and “ gigaCCS ”, in which the University of Bergen is a partner. However, permanent researchers are encouraged to be engaged in securing their own funding, and in the long term, the position may be funded by a combination of projects within the research group. About the project/work tasks The successful candidate will be instrumental in the group’s activity within both mentioned centers. Key work tasks and responsibilities will involve: Development and mathematical analysis of solver technology for multiphase flow simulation in deformable geological porous media. Key challenges and opportunities related to the center applications include: a) Operations with intermittent and/or cyclical injection profiles. b) CO2 storage with varying degrees of impurities in both the CO2 and the reservoir fluid(s). c) large-scale, multi-field operations with non-negligible mechanical response. Supervision of PhD and MSc students with thesis topics that are relevant for the ongoing research, both as co-supervisor or main supervisor. Support in the integration of centers activities, including taking part in the development of annual working plans and reporting. Contribute to outreach and communication activities, both towards society as well as industry partners Qualifications and personal qualities Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree (PhD) within computational and applied mathematics, or have a PhD in a closely related field (e.g. computational physics, civil and environmental engineering, computer science), and demonstrate equivalent competence within computational and applied mathematics. Candidates that have submitted his/her doctoral thesis for assessment prior to the application deadline will also be considered. It is a condition of employment that the PhD has been awarded. Research-level experience with numerical analysis and partial differential equations is a requirement. Research-level experience with development of simulation technology is a requirement. Research-level experience with either multiphase flow in porous media, or geomechanics, is a requirement. Experience with either CO2 storage or petroleum engineering is an advantage. Experience with open science and FAIR research practices is an advantage. Experience from supervision of students is an advantage. Ability to attract external research funding is an advantage. Applicants must be able to work independently and in a structured manner and have the ability to cooperate with others. Applicants must have excellent skills in oral and written English. Fluency in a Scandinavian language is an advantage. All our staff is given the opportunity to attend courses in order to learn Norwegian and we expect them to learn Norwegian or another Scandinavian language within three years. In assessing the candidates, a review of both the quality and the breadth of the candidate's research will be conducted. Personal and relational qualities will be emphasized. Special requirements for the position The University of Bergen is subjected to the regulation for export control system. The regulation will be applied in the processing of the applications. The position is subject to the following terms The researcher will be a member of the research group in which the subject area of the position belongs. As a general rule, the researcher’s salary, operating costs, and research activities must be fully funded through external grants and projects. The researcher is expected to actively contribute to securing external research funding fo
