About the programme/project/undertaking Title of programme/project/ undertaking: Reachability in Infinite Systems at High Resolution (acronym: POLARIS) Type of programme/project/ undertaking: ERC Consolidator Grant Funding institution: European Research Council Duration of programme/project/undertaking: 01.09.2026 – 31.08.2031 Head of programme/project/undertaking: dr hab. Wojciech Czerwiński Description of programme/project/undertaking The project "POLARIS: Reachability in Infinite Systems at High Resolution“ in financed by European Union (contract nr 101231447, principal investigator: dr. hab. Wojciech Czerwiński, prof. ucz.) investigation of challenging problems in the area of infinite-state systems. The main emphasis is put on understanding fundamental models of computation and simply defined, natural problems. The work in this project will concentrate on the following two directions: The reachability problem in VASS and related systems. The main goal here is better understanding of the complexity of the reachability problem in subclasses of VASS and their generalisations. Additionally, other systems modelling both concurrency and recursion will also be considered. Separability problem. One of the main goal here is to understand decidability states of the F-separability problems for classes G, where F are various natural subclasses of regular languages (like locally testable languages, or first order logic definable languages) and G are various natural superclasses of regular languages (like VASS languages or languages of One counter nets).
