Descrizione
The postdoctoral researcher will carry out their activities within the Laboratoire de Physique des 2 Infinis Irène Joliot-Curie (IJCLab – UMR 9012), a joint research unit under the supervision of CNRS, Université Paris-Saclay, and Université Paris Cité. The position is jointly affiliated with the ASSD team (Astroparticle Solid State Detectors, contact: Claire Marrache-Kikuchi) and the Cryogenic Service (contact: Matthieu Pierens). It is part of the national CryoNext program (France 2030), dedicated to the development of high-performance cryogenic technologies for quantum technologies, and more specifically to ultra-low-temperature thermometry in the millikelvin range. The successful candidate will directly contribute to the development of millikelvin-range thermometry capabilities, in close interaction with national partners from both academia and industry. In particular, they will be involved in: • the implementation, optimization, and operation of cryogenic devices and systems; • performing low-temperature experimental measurements; • the development and experimental characterization of new thermometry concepts for ultra-low-temperature applications; • the implementation, optimization, and operation of thin film deposition systems; • thin film deposition and characterization. Within this framework, the postdoctoral researcher will work on a daily basis with the ASSD team and the Cryogenic Service and will collaborate with the partners of the CryoNext project. They will benefit from appropriate training to support the assumption of their new responsibilities and to ensure rapid integration into their new working environment. It is expected that the data obtained will ultimately contribute to achieving the scientific and technological objectives defined within the framework of the CryoNext project. The Laboratoire de Physique des 2 Infinis Irène Joliot Curie (IJCLab) is a research organisation comprising approximately 750 researchers, engineers, and technicians. It has significant technical capabilities for designing, developing and implementing the experimental equipment required for its scientific activities, including particle accelerators and detectors for high-energy physics, nuclear physics, astroparticle physics and cosmology, as well as applications in health and environment. Located on the Orsay campus of Paris-Saclay University, it benefits from a rich scientific and technical environment. IJCLab is located approximately 30 km southwest of Paris, at the entrance to the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Natural Park. With access to the RER B train line, the A10 motorway, the N118 and N104 national roads, and the Coulée Verte park, the campus enjoys a green setting and a rich scientific, technical and cultural environment. The campus has a staff restaurant and sports facilities for employees, as well as opportunities for artistic and cultural activities. IJCLab bases its recruitment policy on the promotion of equality, diversity, and inclusion. These core values support the professional development of staff members, who are key contributors to collective success, as well as the continued development of the laboratory itself. The ASSD team (Astroparticle Solid State Detectors) develops an approach based on exploiting the properties of materials studied within the group to design innovative detectors for astroparticle experiments, in particular in the fields of neutrino physics and dark matter searches. These activities aim both to understand the quantum properties of these materials (superconductivity, Anderson insulator, localization, etc.) and to study their performance as thermal sensors for bolometers operating at low temperatures. The team thus covers the entire experimental cycle, from the design and fabrication of devices and experiments to their operation and the analysis of the associated data.
