We currently have a job opening for a: Graduate Teaching Assistant (must hold a Diploma/Master's degree) for a full-time, four-year position Organizational unit: Institute of Technical Mechanics Entry date: 10/01/2026 Job Reference Number: 35900-2026-002003 Job Duties: Participation in the acquisition and execution of research projects in the research areas of the Institute of Technical Mechanics Participation in teaching including self-contained teaching of existing courses Support the administration of the research and teaching activities of the Institute of Technical Mechanics Completion of a dissertation Your Qualifications: The candidate must have a completed university degree (Diploma/Master’s) in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Engineering, or a comparable technical field Willingness and ability to pursue a doctorate High level of motivation for academic work, as well as strong initiative and the ability to work independently Profound knowledge in Technical Mechanics – in particular, in the areas of continuum mechanics of solids, computational mechanics and machine learning Willingness to independently familiarize oneself with new subject areas and work on interdisciplinary issues (e.g. with regard to Medical Engineering) Excellent written and spoken German (at least level C1) and English (at least level B1) skills Strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as an enthusiasm for collaborating with industry and research partners What We Offer: On the basis of full-time employment (40 hours/week) the minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement is € 3,776.10 gross per month (14 x per year, CA Job Grade: B1) Stable employer Attractive campus environment with good public transportation connections Attractive continual educational opportunities State-of-the-art research infrastructure Dynamic research environment Broad range of on-campus dining services/healthy meals (organic food at the cafeteria) Exercise and sports classes (USI) …and much more Application due date: 08/19/2026 The Johannes Kepler University wishes to increase the proportion of academic female faculty and, for this reason, especially welcomes applications by qualified women.
