CALL FOR APPLICATION FOR A RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP Refª: Wine Sensor_ BI Portuguese version A call for tenders is now open for the attribution of one Research Scholarship within the scope of the Project “WineSensor: AI-supported voltammetric sensor for monitoring wine oxidation” financed by the Cork Supply Portugal, SA, under the following conditions, set out below. Scientific area: Biotechnology and Nutritional Sciences Admission requirements: General requirements: Candidates for the Research grant must, at the date of application, be enrolled, or present a commitment to enroll in a study cycle conferring an ( Doctoral) degree in Biotechnology or related areas. Candidates for the Research Grant, after selection, in order to begin the contracting process, must enroll in the Biotechnology doctoral program at the School of Biotechnology, in accordance with the theme and work plan of the grant to be carried out within the scope of the aforementioned project. Indeed, this doctoral program must be carried out at the School of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Portugal and supervised by a team identified for the implementation of the work plan. Candidates must hold a master’s degree in Biochemistry, Environmental Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology and Innovation, or related fields, and meet the admission criteria of the general doctoral regulations of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Specific requirements: Candidates must also have knowledge/research experience in the following areas: • Experience or training in spectroscopic techniques, namely UV-Vis, fluorescence, FTIR, NIR, Raman or other techniques applied to the characterization of chemical, food or biological matrices. • Knowledge of chemometrics and multivariate data analysis, including methods such as PCA, PLS, PLS-DA, multivariate regression, classification and model validation. • Experience in the processing and interpretation of experimental data, preferably using tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, Origin, Unscrambler, SIMCA or equivalent software. • Knowledge of analytical chemistry applied to food, environmental or biological matrices, with particular emphasis on experience in wine analysis, phenolic compounds, antioxidant activity or oxidation processes. • Ability to develop, validate and apply analytical methodologies, including sample preparation, data acquisition, quality control, statistical analysis and critical interpretation of results.. Preferred Factors: Will be considered preferred factors: -• Knowledge of machine learning and advanced data analysis, including classification, regression, variable selection, model validation and interpretation of results applied to experimental data. • Experience in molecular biology, namely in techniques for the extraction, quantification and analysis of biomolecules, or in methodologies applied to the characterization of biological, microbiological or food systems. • Knowledge of applied electrochemistry, including techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, chronoamperometry, electrochemical impedance, or the development/application of electrochemical sensors. • Experience in the integration of analytical data obtained from different techniques, such as spectroscopy, electrochemistry, biochemical assays and molecular methods. • Ability to apply computational and statistical tools to the interpretation of experimental results, preferably using Python, R, MATLAB or equivalent software. Work Plan: The Research Fellow will participate in the following project tasks, namely: • Preparation and characterization of wine samples. • Performance of spectroscopic and electrochemical analyses. • Evaluation of the chemical/phytochemical profile of the samples, including phenolic compounds, oxidation markers and antioxidant activity. • Development, optimization and validation of analytical methodologies. • Statistical, chemometric and machine lear Annuncio in inglese.
