A call for applications is open for a Research Grant (BI) within the scope of the project “3D-CARB4E&E (COMPETE2030-FEDER-00718800)”, funded by the “Innovation and Digital Transition Program (COMPETE 2030), Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), I.P. and FEDER”, under the following conditions: 1. Scientific Area: Chemical Engineering 2. Admission Requirements: - Hold a master’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fields; - Be enrolled in a doctoral program in Chemical Engineering or in a non-degree-granting program integrated into the pedagogical project of a higher education institution; - Suitability of the candidate's training and experience to the objectives of the work to be developed; - Possess experience in stereolithographic 3D printing demonstrated by means of Publications or thesis developed on the topic - Experience working with carbon materials; - Experience in characterizing 3D printed materials necessary to determine the mechanical strength of parts, as well as characterizations related to the resins used in printing; - The existence of scientific publications, namely in scientific journals and/or communications at conferences, with special emphasis on oral presentations, will be valued; - Proficiency in English (written and oral communication) will also be valued. 3. Work Plan: Synthesis of 3D structured carbon materials, preferably with a TPMS structure, using the DLP technique and evaluation of different resin formulations focusing on optimizing the textural properties of the carbon material. Preparation of carbon materials to be sent to a project partner (FEUP) who will use them for studies related to energy applications. Characterization of the synthesized materials, both the resins currently used in printing and the resins that will be developed during the project. Evaluation of the application of the materials for wastewater treatment purposes. The selected candidate will collaborate in the writing of technical reports and scientific publications and participate in meetings with project partners and in external and internal communication actions. 4. Objectives: The main objective of this activity of the “3D-CARB4E&E” project is the synthesis of carbon materials through stereolithographic 3D printing for subsequent application as catalysts in advanced oxidation processes for the degradation of emerging pollutants, as well as in energy applications to be developed in partnership with FEUP. 5.
