Descrizione
Si offre un contratto pre-dottorale legato a un finanziamento specifico, con un orario di lavoro annuale di 1.627,50 ore. bout the Unit / Research Group The group focuses on genetic disorders characterized by a high predisposition to cancer, many of which are caused by mutations in DNA repair genes. These genes play a fundamental role in preventing tumour development. Research into these syndromes is essential not only to improve diagnosis and treatment but also to better understand the mechanisms that protect against cancer. In recent years, the team has identified and studied new genes involved in these syndromes and has promoted therapeutic research that has led to two orphan drug designations granted by the European Medicines Agency, as well as several academic clinical trials, including gene therapy and drug repurposing strategies. The group also investigates DNA repair genes as potential therapeutic targets to selectively induce tumour cell death through the concept of synthetic lethality. The growing understanding of the genetic basis of these disorders has fostered the development of new therapeutic strategies. In this context, appropriate genetic diagnosis is essential for genetic counselling, the clinical management of patients and their families, and the implementation of personalised medicine strategies based on genomic information. Essential requirements University Degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent). A total of 300 ECTS credits required for admission to a doctoral programme, including a Master's degree in Genetics or a related discipline. Oral and written proficiency in the two official languages of Catalonia or, alternatively, the selected candidate must demonstrate, or undertake to acquire within one year, an adequate command of both official languages. High level of English. Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Desirable qualifications Knowledge of functional studies of genetic variants of uncertain significance in hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes. Experience in studying genes and molecular mechanisms involved in oncology. Experience working in a Genetics, Molecular Biology or related laboratory. Main responsibilities Carrying out a PhD thesis in the field of genomic instability and associated syndromes. Performing genetics and molecular biology experiments. Conducting functional studies of genes involved in the DNA damage response. Data analysis, preparation of scientific reports, and dissemination of research results. We offer Predoctoral contract linked to grant PREP2024-002764, funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
