The Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is recruiting a Research Support Technician for the YAMS project (Social Media and Democratic Life: Investigating YouTube as Alternative Media System), funded by the "la Caixa" Foundation. The project produces the first large-scale, data-driven map of professional YouTube content creators in Spain and Portugal, combining computational methods with qualitative research on creator communities and a policy-oriented report for regulators. The successful candidate will join an international research team and take a central role in the qualitative strand of the project: coordinating and conducting semi-structured interviews with YouTube content creators (50,000–500,000 subscribers), and collaborating on the production of a report aimed at regulators and policy-makers. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience in qualitative fieldwork, and the ability to work across languages and cultures within an international team. Job position requirements (skills/languages/required experience) Master's degree in Communication, Social Sciences, Journalism, Sociology or related field (required). Certified C1 English (required — working language of the research team). C1 Catalan highly valued (for conducting interviews in Spanish/Catalan sphere). Experience in qualitative research methods (semi-structured interviews) valued. Knowledge of digital platforms and content creator ecosystems valued.
