NOTICE NR. 855/2026 These tender proceedings are intended to give effect to the judgement of 5 February 2026 handed down by the Supreme Administrative Court in Case No. 25013/25.6BELSB.SA1. Accordingly, notice is hereby given that an international competitive selection process is open at the Faculty of Arts (FLUL) of the University of Lisbon (ULisboa), for a period of 30 working days from the working day immediately following the publication of this Notice in the Diário da República, for the recruitment of 1 (one) Assistant Professor, under a permanent public-sector employment contract, in the subject area of Philosophy: Philosophy of Nature and the Environment at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, in accordance with the provisions of Articles 37 to 51, and Articles 61 and 62-A of the Statute on University Teaching Careers, republished by Decree-Law No. 205/2009 of 31 August and amended by Law No. 8/2010 of 13 May (hereinafter referred to as the ECDU), and other applicable legislation, namely the General Regulations governing competitive selection procedures for the recruitment of full professors, associate professors and assistant lecturers at the University of Lisbon, approved by the Rector’s Order of 16 February 2015 and published by Order No. 2307/2015 in the Diário da República, Series II, No. 45, of 5 March, hereinafter referred to as the Regulations. The successful candidate will enter into a permanent public-sector employment contract in the category for which this competition has been launched, with a probationary period in accordance with the provisions of Article 25 of the ECDU. The competition is specifically aimed at holders of a PhD with high potential and research ability who wish to join the university teaching career path. The decision to launch this competition was also based on compliance with the provisions of Article 6(5) of Decree-Law No 57/2016 of 29 August, as amended by Article 2 of Law No 57/2017 of 19 July. Joint Order No. 373/2000 of 31 March, issued by the Minister for State Reform and Public Administration and the Minister for Equality, stipulates that the following statement must be included in competitions for entry and promotion: “In accordance with Article 9(h) of the Constitution, the Public Administration, as an employer, actively promotes a policy of equal opportunities for men and women in access to employment and career progression, taking every care to prevent any and all forms of discrimination.” Accordingly, the terms ‘candidate’, ‘recruit’, ‘teacher’ and other similar terms are not used in this notice to refer to a person’s gender.
