A tender is open for the attribution of 1 Master Research Scholarship within the scope of the R&D project TWIN | Toy heritage as a Way to Innovation: Bridging Past and Future to Play NOVA.ID.FCT project (2024.13332. PEX), funded by national funds through the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. / MCTES, under the following conditions: Work Plan: The selected candidate will work on the exploratory project “Toy Heritage as a Way to Innovation: Bridging Past and Future to Play.” The work plan includes the development of the project’s activities related to the study of the socioeconomic impact of tinplate toys, namely: • Participation in team meetings for theoretical and methodological discussions, data collection and treatment, preparation and development of an interview guide based on a set of key objects. Interviews with different stakeholders, including toy manufacturers, collectors, curators, and users. • Participation and development of the study of local knowledge hubs on toys, particularly in the towns of Alfena and Ermesinde, in the Municipality of Valongo, which play a fundamental role in preserving and promoting traditional toys. • Participation in dissemination activities of the results obtained. • Preparation of reports regarding the fellow’s participation in the project’s activities. Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Department of Applied Social Sciences (DCSA) and the Department of Physics (DF) of the NOVA School of Science and Technology. Activities may also include periods of work at other museums partnering with the project, whenever necessary for the implementation of the work plan. Scientific supervision will be provided by Dr. Paula Urze, with NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT acting as the contracting entity. Fellowship duration: The duration of the research fellowship (not renewable) will be for 6 months, starting in September of 2026.
