International selection procedure for the recruitment of one Junior Researcher - Ref. N.º PREFACED-RC28-2026 ADAI - Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Aerodinâmica Industrial (Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics) decided to open a call for applications for one Research Contract for a master’s degree holder in the scope of the UCPM European Project: Pre-FACED - Enhancing Preparedness Capacities for Multi-Hazard Effects through the Fusion of Geospatial and AITechnologies Pre-FACED Project, which is coordinated by ERATOSTHENES CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE from Cyprus and includes the participation of ADAI, and Sim4Safety from Portugal, ETAIREIA MELETON YPIRESION KAI LOGISMIKOU GEOCHO, PERIFEREIA ATTIKIS and ETHNIKO ASTEROSKOPEIO ATHINON, from Greece, YPOURGEIO ESOTERIKON and ATLANTIS PERIVALLON KAI KAINOTOMIA LIMITED from Cyprus and the MINISTERE DE L'INTERIEUR from France, aims to enhance the emergency response capability of Civil Protection (CP) agencies for wildfires, floods, and combined events, while strengthening cooperation amongst EU countries. This will be achieved through the development of na operational remote sensing (RS)/GIS-based platform that serves as a preparedness Decision Support System (DSS) for wildfires and floods. The system will be dynamically updated, by integrating hazard prediction models, geospatial technologies (Remote Sensing, GIS, and GNSS), real-time field data, and advanced prediction models supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. This system will link and integrate preparedness capacities for wildfires and floods with hazard prediction models, satellite remote sensing (RS) data, imagery collected from advanced sensors, information transmitted from the field, and AI-supported hazard risk prediction models, into a single operational platform, representing the core innovation of Pre-FACED. The DSS will incorporate dynamic, real-time field information streams and will be deployed and tested in Cyprus, Greece, and Portugal -under the expertise of the French CP- to enhance their operational readiness and address identified preparedness gaps. This DDS will be designed to facilitate easy integration and deployment across other EU Civil Protection agencies and for additional hazard types. Pre-FACED directly addresses Priority 4 of Topic 1 of the KAPP Call, with the overall objective to support, strengthen, and enhance the quality and interoperability of the preparedness capacities under the UCPM. The project will also strengthen cooperation among EU countries and improve communication and information management to effectively prepare for future disasters such as wildfires, floods, and hazard synergies, thus contributing to the Union’s disaster resilience goals. Admission requirements: Master in the areas of Computer Science, Informatics or relevant work experience in these areas for more than 2 years. The selected candidate will perform tasks in the field of Computer Science, Machine Learning and Project Management. The tasks will include, but are not limited to: 1) Development of computer models to assess and quantify multiple risks; 2) Support with the administrative management of the project, in the fulfillment of the project milestones; 3) Development of test Protocols for the validation of the implemented functionalities; 4) Laboratorial and field data collection, testing and validation; 5) Support to the administrative and bureaucratic execution of the project; 6) Dissemination activities, production of scientific and technical reports based on the work developed; 7) Study of Innovative solutions that may contribute to the success of the project. The selected candidate will provide expertise in the following activities of the project: WP3 - User requirements assessment, gpa analysis, profile hazard and vulnerability analysis, development of COP guidelines, design of fire risk assessment - real-time flood system and SDI WP4 - Development of a processing chain, integr Annuncio in inglese.
