This position is for the Research Unit CIIMAR (Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research), subject to the following conditions: 1 — Scientific areas: 1.1 — Biology, Environmental Sciences, or Biotechnology 1.2 — No related scientific areas. 2 — Professional Category and career: Special scientific research career under an open-ended employment contract, governed by the Scientific Research Career Statute (ECIC) and the common regime for scientific research careers under private law—Law No. 55/2025, of April 28. 2.1 — Remuneration and working conditions: Index 285, 1st pay step of the Coordinating Researcher category within the scientific research career path, corresponding to a gross base salary of €5,227.28 (five thousand two hundred and twenty-seven euros and twenty-eight cents), excluding Christmas, meal, and holiday allowances. Working conditions are those stipulated in the ECIC, labor contract legislation, and the regulatory standards applicable to researchers hired by this institution. 3- Functional content of the position to be filled: In general, researchers are responsible for: a) Regularly carrying out research and development activities—through inquiry, the creation of original knowledge, and the dissemination of results—as well as performing other scientific and technical activities and services aligned with the mission of the entities to which they belong; b) Conducting activities related to the application, transfer, and valorization of knowledge, as well as science communication and outreach; c) Performing management functions within the scope of scientific research activities that require a high degree of qualification, responsibility, initiative, and autonomy, as well as mastery of the area of ​​specialization, specifically: i) Carrying out tasks inherent to applications for national and international competitive funding; ii) Performing management tasks for research units; iii) Participating in the design and adaptation of specialized technical-scientific methods and processes within the scope of research and development programs and projects; d) Performing highly complex tasks associated with the maintenance of scientific and technological infrastructure; e) Supervising internships, undergraduate projects, master's dissertations, and doctoral theses within their respective areas of specialization; f) Developing training activities regarding scientific research and development methodology; g) Performing functions for which they have been elected or appointed—namely in committees and working groups—and participating in the sessions of the collegiate bodies of the entity to which they belong; Specifically, the Coordinating Researcher is responsible for: guiding and coordinating research programs and their respective teams within a scientific area, as well as designing and coordinating research and development programs. 4- Place of work: The work will be performed at the CIIMAR headquarters—located at the Leixões Port Cruise Terminal, Av.
