Doctor Fernando Manuel Gomes Remião, Associate Professor with full professorial status at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto, and Vice-Rector of the same university: Following my Order issued of 12 August 2026, by delegated power under Ordinance no. 10012/2026 published In the Official Gazette (Diário da República), 2nd series, no. 153 of 10 August, this call for applications is published for one position of Associate Professor to the disciplinary area of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. The application procedure will remain in force for a period of thirty working days as from the working day immediately following the publication of this Notice in the Official Gazette. 1.The applicable legal provisions are as follows: Articles 37 to 51, 61 and 62-A of the Statute of the University Teaching Career (ECDU), republished by Decree Law No. 205/2009, of 31 August, and amended by Law No. 8/2010, of 13 May and Regulation of Competitions for the Recruitment of Full, Associate and Assistant Professors of the University of Porto (hereinafter referred to as Regulation), approved by Order No. 12913/2010, published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 154, of 10 August and amended by Resolution (extract) no. 380/2019, published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 64, of 1 April. 2. Administrative admission requirements to the competition: Hold a PhD for more than five years, calculated up to the day before the application deadline, in accordance with Article 41 of the Statute on University Teaching Careers (ECDU). If the PhD was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must be recognised by a Portuguese higher education institution, in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, published in the Diário da República, 1st series, No. 157, of 16 August. This formality must be completed by the time of appointment. 3. Approval on absolute merit 3.1. If there are no grounds for rejecting the applications, the Jury will decide whether to approve them on absolute merit by justified roll-call vote, with no abstentions allowed. 3.2. The candidate is approved by on absolute merit of the Jury voting members will be considered approved on absolute merit. 3.3. The approval of candidates on absolute merit depends on the possession of an overall curriculum which the jury, considers to demonstrate scientific and pedagogical merit, research capacity, and activity compatible with the subject area for which the competition was opened and appropriate to the respective teaching category, as documented in the respective information submitted for the application. 3.4. For the purposes of the assessment referred to in the previous point, candidates' approval on absolute merit will depend on the cumulative fulfilment of the following requirements: The Candidate hold a doctoral degree in the subject area of Civil Engineering; The candidate must have a curriculum whose merit the members of the jury consider to be of a scientific and pedagogical level, research capacity and developed activity, compatible with the disciplinary area and category for which the competition is open; The candidate must have a minimum of 15 articles and/or book chapters published in the Main Collection of the Scopus or Web of Science databases and an h-index of 8. 4. Evaluation and ranking on relative merit After the candidate’s approval in absolute merit is completed, the ranking on relative merit will be carried out based on the aspects and criteria for ranking, their respective weighting, and the final evaluation system in accordance with no. 6 of Article 50.º of the ECDU and Article 15.º of the Regulations. 4.1.
